Dip tube lengths: These can vary, and be cut to length if they are too long for that jerry can or drum. However, they need to be cut properly to maximise product use and prevent clogging. This could be as simple as choosing between an angle cut and a v cut, but also taking into account the base of the bottle. If it’s curved, the tube will need to go around the side of the bottle so you’ll need a longer tube.

Should you use a tap? If you’re dispensing from a jerry can or drum, it could be tempting to use a tap instead. In some circumstances, a tap is a great idea, but if you need a measured amount each time, a pump is a superior option. Also, jerry cans can be heavy to lift onto a table – a tap is unusable on the floor.

What liquids work in pumps? Most liquids, including oils and gels, work in dispensing pumps. However, the more viscous fluids might not work in all pump types. Make sure the dispensing pump is able to handle the fluid you’re pumping.
